These words once stood on the White House desk of our late beloved President, John F, Kennedy. His life was a model of faith in mankind. No matter how great or small were his problems, be they Cuba, racial equality, or Caroline interrupting his press conference, he responded with understanding, courage, and vigor. He loved people and believed he could somehow help make a better life for all Americans. In the days following your graduation you will have to chart your own course across the years. We, as parents and teachers here at home, must now release the reins, our work is done. Control must now pass into your hands ..... no longer the hands of children, but of young men and women. Hopefully, we have done our duty well. As you embark upon life's vast sea, let the example of our lately fallen President serve as a beacon to light your way. Though your boat be small, sail on with his faith. Seek not only to know but to understand, Seek not only what others can do for you but what you can do for others. Seek not only to rest but to exert yourself in some worthy cause.
