Doowmwlgdoiceo Success is a matter of making choices. In choosing, we select doors to open, thresholds to cross. We do this many times each day, and the days become years, and the years become life. In your case, your choices have opened, the door to graduation. Soon you will step across the threshold to more doors and more choices. You must ask yourself these questions: What shall Ibe? When shall I start? I-low shall I do it? Two thoughts, almost axiomatic in nature, may help you as you approach these other doors and choices. I When one door closes to you, another opens. It is often the last key on the ring which - opens the door. Personally and officially, I hope the future will be fruitful for you. Sheldon E, Guile Superintendent SI-IELDON E. GUILE Ed. LAWRENCE JACKSON M. S.,, Cornell University Administrative Assistant 1 O N S ' '4 Oggaw Sag GELYEVIEVE BURCI-I, Account Clerk ARLENE BOWS, Account Clerk. A WA . ELIZABETH TKINS, Account Clerk CARGL STRUBLE, Clerk These words once stood on the White House desk of our late beloved President, John F, Kennedy. His life was a model of faith in mankind. No matter how great or small were his problems, be they Cuba, racial equality, or Caroline interrupting his press conference, he responded with understanding, courage, and vigor. He loved people and believed he could somehow help make a better life for all Americans. In the days following your graduation you will have to chart your own course across the years. We, as parents and teachers here at home, must now release the reins, our work is done. Control must now pass into your hands ..... no longer the hands of children, but of young men and women. Hopefully, we have done our duty well. As you embark upon life's vast sea, let the example of our lately fallen President serve as a beacon to light your way. Though your boat be small, sail on with his faith. Seek not only to know but to understand, Seek not only what others can do for you but what you can do for others. Seek not only to rest but to exert yourself in some worthy cause. And, when long years have passed away, do remember ...... we shall still be true to the banner of the O.F.A,, the flag of red and blue. Best wishes, Edward A. Adamo EDWARD A. ADAMO Ed. Now that we are seniors, the coveted honor is tinged with nostalgia. Our four years have been filled with many joys and successes. Memories of the Curious Savagg, Our Hearts Were Young-rand Gay, and Youn er Than Springtime wi linger forever. My fellow classmates: To most of the students at O. F, A., the TOM TOM summarizes many of the activities of the preceding year. To us, the Class of l964, this, our senior yearbook, reminds us of all our wonderful experiences during our four years of study at the Academy. As we enter the realm of adulthood and responsibility, we can look back through the pages of the '64 yearbook and remember how much we really loved our fine school and our cherished high school friends. Along with the other class officers, I should like to express appreciation for your help in making our senior year a rewarding one. I feel very honored and proud to have been president of such a fine class. Each month a specific area of math, one not normally touched on in class, is dis- cussed. ln this way its members, under the guidance of Mr. Witinski, have a fuller understanding and a deeper knowledge of mathematics. To put this knowledge to use, many members attend Mathletes. These contests, held at various schools, test members' math ability against that of students from different schools. These contests and the discussions held at the meetings make Math Club a most interesting and challeng- ing organization. This year can truly be called a busy one for the Student Council. For the pleasure of the students, the Council sponsored a Christmas program, a talent show, four paid assemblies, and Coles All Star Circus, presented late in February. ln the spring they played host to District Xl Student Councils at which time new district officers were elected. This year's football team, under Coach Lockwood, completed a 3-5 record, the best one in years. The O.E.A, warriors launched the 1963 season with a trip to Maine-Endwell. However, the highlight of Owego's season was an impressive win over arch-rival Waverly at the annual homecoming game. Later the squad proved its defensive skill by holding the Homer Trojans scoreless. The season was marked by a climatic victory over another staunch opponent, Newark Valley. Since the tearn's determina- tion seemed outstanding, its future looks promising. The Junior Varsity squad displayed much ambition despite a winless season. The team was composed of new boys with a small nucleus of veterans. The season start- ed slowly with Owego losing the Tioga County Invitational meet for the first time since its inauguration four years ago. However, as the season progressed the caliber of performance improved and the season ended on a commendable level. There were many pleasant results. Among them were the second place finish in the Northern Zone Class A meet, the school records set in the half mile and broad jump by Jack Russell and Dale Bennett, and the fine performances of many of the other boys. ln addition, Jack represented Owego at the lntersectional meet in the distance medley relay, and Dale represented us in the broad jump. Both boys acted as Section IV rep- resentatives. QMWEGWW FRONT ROW: Left to Right, G. Root, T. Simmons, J. Mayberry, D. Rummel, R. Gilfillan, T. Clark. ROW TWO: D. Shirkey, J. Stimik, T. Clark, J.
