Not pictured, LaVerne Brister You, the members of the Class of l96l, are now passing a very im- portant milestone. What you have learned and absorbed up to this point will remain with you throughout life. This should not be the end of the educational process, for whether you continue studies at some institution of higher learning, or immediately start to work, you have an opportunity and obligation to use and develop your talents. From this point on you be- come the responsible party. Whatever you do, wherever you go, there is al- ways one thing over which you will have absolute control -- you can al- ways do your best. As you leave Owego Free Acade- my and move on to new fields, my congratulations and best wishes go with you. Harold Newcomb MAIN OFFICE STAFF Front row, left to right: A. Hatch, Stenog- rapher, E. A Message from Uur Superintendent THE WORLD OF LEARNING G The World of Learning has two groups of people, RECEIVERS and IVERS. RECEIVERS pour into their minds facts, culture and ideas. They absorb knowledge with minds that are similar to unplayed phonograph records. They become static store-houses. GIVERS have minds that serve as channels through which ideas are transmitted to others. They too have read and leorned what others have done - - but, more significantly, they have thoughts and ideas of their own, and have carried them into action. They live creatively, RECEIVERS do the routine work and follow the well-worn grooves of living. They are the listeners, the watchers, and readers of lite. GIVERS build the bridges and create the jobs, scour cancer and polio, and send the Minuteman and Polaris from the launching pad. Class of l96l -- whether GIVERS or RECEIVERS -- Board and Staff wish you well. Sheldon E. Guile, Superintendent
