May you students continue alo11g with your educa- tion ancl attain the heights of this great game. May' you circle the world as one circles the bases, be as well acclaimed and have your name as famous. Wie might say that there are four bases in education from which you may graduate: namely. kindergarten. sixth grade. high school and college. Life is a game mafle up of rules to guide each and every one of us. Adhere to those rules ami you will achieve by yourself where a baseball must be given inertia. SHELDON E. GUILE, Superintendent of Schools PR heritage has given us many' Institutions typically' Americanfl nique to our Nation and Wiay of Life. You who are ahout to leave one of these Institutions. the American High School. have chosen another. Baseball as the theme of your Tom Tom. Bass-hall and lligh School have more in common than many realize. Both had their beginning in the last half of the nineteenth century. and spread throughout the Yation following the Civil War. But of far greater significance. is their similarity of principles. among which one must mention --recognition that ahility' has no race. color. creed or economic status. equal opportunity for all. and that to achieve one must work. These principles have influenced not only' your school and sport life. but will carry' on into the year aheadvin industry, the community' and in the home, Those of you that have learned well the rules of school and sport will have little dilliculty' with the rules of life. A strike out will not defeat you. for you have learned from Basehall the importance of the nwill to win. All of the faculty' wishes vou the best of success in your future life. Sincerely' SIIICLDON Clilhl-I 8

The Mentors VERY team needs coaching. Even if every player is a star, if teamwork doesn't prevail there will be no winning team. Here is Where our coaches prove their worth. Whether we are stars or rookies, we are taught the value of teamwork and co-operation, which are needed to win. We students must all act as catchers when the faculty is pitching. When we come out of our udugoutsu for a full day of practice, we look toward the managers for incentive. Discouragement comes frequently during our training, but when we are struggling toward Hthirdw We can rest assured that our coaches are there to wave us nhomew. We can count on them for the inspiration to make that ngrand- slam homer when an extra score is needed. Although we can't all be pennant winners, the coaches are always around trying their best to help us make the 4'Hall of Fame . THE FACULTY ROW ONE-Paul Y. R. Andrews, Machine Shop, Mildred Bensley.
