CLASS HISTORY The class of 49'50, the brainiest class ever to enter and leave Oviedo High School, began its education September 5, 1938, with Miss Marguerite Parsons as our guide, on the upward march to fame. The following twenty-two members were enrolled: Erwin Abell, Jimmie Burkette, Edward Duda, Ferdinand Jakubcin, Berry Perritte, Junior Smith, Charles Thomas, John Halagerty, Marvin Bryant, Geneva Bailey, Billie Chance, Audrey Cox, La June Estes, Betty George, Barbara Glassmire, Mildred Lukas, Charlotte Smith, Peggy Stan- sell, Joyce Waters, Ioan Tingly, Liller Mae Green, and Permelia Brown. By September 11, 1939, our second year, we had lost seven members, and gained two, I. C. Green and Duane Conrad. Miss Aldred Cone was our teacher. The third year with Miss Cone still our teacher, on September 9, 1940, we found that we had lost four pupils, and gained the following: Betty Owen, Gail Sullivan, Dorothy Knight, Walter Bailey, and Donald Mikler. We began our fourth year with Miss Mary Alice Williams as our teacher, on September 14, 1941. We had lost only two members, but we had gained Maynard Allen, Homer Perritte, Bob Ward, Charles Malcolm, and Hazel Perrirte. On September 7, 1942, with Mrs. Frances Stine as our teacher, we began our fifth year, having lost six members, with the gain of only one, Frank Gore. Our enrollment in our sixth year, was the largest we had throughout our course in school. We began on September 6, 1943, with Miss Margaret Harper as our teacher. We had an enrollment of twenty-eight, having lost only one with the gain of fourteen pupils. They were as follows! Eugene Ellis, David Hickson, Edward Kasell, Dick Parker, M. D. Long, Swen Norrekjar, Violet Best, Betty Malcolm,' Sadie McConaha, Ruth McMahan, Jeanettee McMahan, Dorothy Priest, Murline Huggins, and Virginia Long. We entered the seventh grade on September 11, 1944, with Miss Lois Ruddell as our home-room teacher. We thought we were really something, being in Jr. Hi. School. We had lost seven members, but had gained two, Harold Sheldon, and Harvey Gray. In the eighth grade, we again had Miss Ruddell as our home-room teacher. We began on September 10, 1945. We had lost seven members, and gained five. They were Bobby Gordon, James Gilmore, Patsy Hill, Hortense Mitchell, and Sadie Mitchell. This was a very important year to us, because we graduated into High School. We thought we were really it.
