HDR' IT M RS HD RSMIT HD IT M RS HD IT M RS HD IT M RS HD IT M RS i D When settlers came to this country early in its history they were confronted with dangers, privations, and hardships, conditions with which we of this generation are unacguainted, By frugality, with perseverance, with persistence, with hard labor, they built their homes, they spun their own cloth, they tilled their own fields, they made a livelihood and prospered. Their children built upon the foundation created by the parents until we come to the period of the revolution, It was then that public-spirited individuals, feeling that there should be no taxation without adequate representation, were able to unite thirteen communities who fought for a common cause. Out of that conflict emerged thirteen states, unrelated in many respects, but bound together under the common bond of The Constitution of the United States. Recently we have learned that certain individuals advocate the abolition of this Constitution, They say that it is out of date, that it no longer meets our changed conditions, that it is obsolete, For over one hundred and fifty years this nation has been gu:ded by the principles of that Constitution, the United States of America has grown, developed, and prospered as has no other nation. As you go out to assume your places in the world and become a part of our citizenry, respect the traditions of our forefathers, stand by the foundation stones of our nation, support the Constitution of the United States and its keystonee-the Supreme Court, l-l.
