Class advisor Robert Carlson led the juniors through four days of work which resulted in the transformation of the school gym into a Japanese wonderland. Couples, dressed in their finest, danced and enjoyed themselves until early morning. 37 39 After being chosen Miss Otto-Eldred by the Class of ’81 Amy Emerson returned from the McKean County Fair with the top honor. Competing with representatives from area schools in categories of talent, poise and personality as well as scholarship and contributions to school and community. Amy was awarded the title Miss McKean County. The business staff, advised by Janice Regis, is responsible for the soliciting of advertisements and for keeping the financial situation in order. The typing staff turns confused masses of handwritten words into organized sheets of copy ready to send to the publisher. Taking candid pictures and action shots at sports events are some of the jobs the photography staff does. The production staff, however, is the hub of all activity in creating and producing great yearbooks like the 1981 Ottocrat. Ten girls, five senior editors and five juniors, with much help from Mr. John Zinzi (or Z”. as we like to call him) meet every Monday night to plan and organize what will become a lasting collection of cherished memories. This year’s representatives to the Youth Traffic Safety Council were Deb Breese and Boyd Fitzsimmons. Deb and Boyd, along with students from other area schools, discussed ways to improve the driving habits of teenagers and driver safety in the school community. They attended driver safety workshops and borrowed films from the IU9 building to show to students in our school. The Student Forum representatives for the 1980-1981 school year were Brenda VanScoter and Kandy Bosworth. Such problems as vandalism and lack of school spirit were discussed in the seminars they attended. 81 This year the O-E Library Club consisted of a group of very dedicated individuals. These students give up their spare time to help Miss Hau. the librarian, run the library. Camera! Action! It was another full season of activity for O-E's Drama Club. The lively members of this organization spent the year rehearsing and preparing for dramatic productions. Under the advisorship of Miss Ruth Kennemuth. the group performed such plays as I Never Saw Another Butterfly” and Heidi”. PSBA. Each year our school sends two students, the top-ranked junior and the second-ranked senior, to the annual Pennsylvania School Board Association Convention. This year Sue Dittman. The play, directed by Mr. James Hess, was a comedy-mystery, centered around the Maxwell Family. Amongst confusion. delusion, and hilarious adventures, the cunning minds of Wilbur and Hercules helped to uncover the conspiracy that threatened Mr. Quigley's life. After the conviction of Dr. Brown, love filled the air as Granny and Mr. Quigley. Wilbur and Celeste, and Hercules and Nina paired off. The Maxwell Family lived happily ever after. Class Of 1981 - Senior Play Who ever heard of pantyhose hanging in a high school office, a janitor boogying with a broom, and a female principal throwing her weight around? The seniors brought all this and more to life in the production of their class play. Lock. Stock, and Lipstick. The Class of 1981 presented their play on Saturday night. October the twenty-fifth. 1980. The three-act comedy centered around the guidance office of Pen-broke High School. The guidance counselor. Gordon Warren, became almost hostile when the school board not only hired a woman counselor for Pen-broke, but also demanded that the two share an office. The plot is highlighted further by a sweeping romance between two janitors, a money scandal on the yearbook staff, and the eventual defeat of Mr. Warren's extreme dislike of all women. Mrs. Regis. play advisor, and Lori Burgoon. student director, helped to make Lock. Stock, and Lipstick the success it was. Football A season for building. is how Coach Gene Fazio characterized this year's Terror football effort. Eight returning senior lettermen backed by up and coming underclassmen plowed through a full schedule of opposition with a roster cut by injuries. Terror spirit never dimmed as pep rallies and an activity jammed spirit week led up to the Homecoming Night crowning of Queen Deb Breese and King Bob Gross as the '8 I Terrors played their last home game against Portville. Girl’s Basketball Seniors The 1980 Girls Varsity Basketball team was provided with excellent leadership by 2 outstanding captains, lisa Weakland and Paula Rhodes. With their contagious enthusiasm, they were also the team's most devoted supporters. Both girls have a good back ground in the sport. Paula Rhodes has been a valuable member of the varsity team since her sophomore year. Her contributions to the team include both leadership and skill. Lisa Weakland has 2 years of varsity action to her credit. Ask any team member. Lisa was there with a word of encouragement when times got rough. Who deserves the credit for this choice of captains?
