Ronald Paul Adrianse The members of Ottawa's Class of '70 spent their last year in a flurry of activities. For them it was a time of hope and excitement as they looked anxiously toward the future. It was a time of mixed sadness as the Seniors reflected on the crowded, yet unforgettable halls of Ottawa. The 1969-70 year was a year of serious decision making, of carefree escapades and gradual ma- turing. For the members of the class of '70, Ottawa Hills High School was an often exasperating but always exciting experience. General Richard William Anderson Q... General. While new programs were insti- gated in the Mathematics, English, and History Departments, the most dramatic revision was in the English Department where students picked specific fields of interest to study for each six-week period. Another added dimension to life at Ottawa was the Educational Park. The Ed Park, housed at Junior College and Central High School, was created to expand course offerings for the students. Most of the Ottawa students found the 69-70 school year a refreshing change and a chance to further express their own individuality. Q Attentive, Wendy Carter ponders the question. Their final year was filled with many unified activities. Graduation was foremost on the minds of all, but before leaving the high school years behind there were things to be done. Homecoming and Senior play were the major concerns of the fall program. Winter and spring were busy seasons preparing for Prom and graduation. This was good for fifth place in the city dual meets competition. The team finished sixth in the regional meet and lost by only inches in the city meet. Coach Edwin Strong believes he had the third best team in the city because three of the losses were by a one-point margin. John Brown, Pete Nash, and Scott Harmsen were the number two, three and four men, respectively. With Mike Brown and Scott Harmsen returning next year, the team should rise considera- bly in the standings. Pete Nash kicks for the finish. confldences Long ago it must be I have a photograph Preserve your memories If A U! 6 1 . I . They're all that's left you. . X -V Without Plato, Socrates would be virtually unknown today. Without Paul the Apostle, there figuratively would have been no Jesus Christ. Socrates lived the truth and posterity is indebted to Plato for recording it. Jesus was the living truth and Paul, the recorder of this truth. Written recording of people and events is the greatest and most lasting preserver of the truth. And it is our only means of separating the history from the hearsay. Great men, great thoughts, and great events only exist because they are acknowledged and recorded. Without this acknowledgment and this recording it is as if they never existed. Without the Legend, the year 1969-70 for 1800 people would in a few years be virtually forgotten. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the staff and adviser and tt acknowledge my gratitude and that of the student body for their immeasur able time and work in a cooperative effort by all involved in colorfully, yet historically, recording a very colorful, historic, and now unforgettable year.
