,,ni,h , Z 2 r S 4,51 ' on mn Three major activities were worked out and enjoyed by the Junior class during the school year. The first of these, namely, the Junior party was held before the class was officially organized. It was given shortly after the begin- ning of the second semester as a gesture of honor to the winning com- mittee in each Of the English VII classes. Things were started off with a bang in the auditorium with a very amusing program planned by Marian Hogue. Those taking part included Mary Bryant, Denise Dennis, Loretta Franks, Mary Keen, Beverly Pope, and Lyman Streeter. Various stunts were given by the formerly mentioned committees and their chairmen. A number of exciting games were played in the Senior high gymnasium, under the direction of Howard McClellan and Thelma Graves. However, the center of attraction was one of the chaperone, Mr, J, E, Whitcraft. Finally, a number of Junior girls served delicious refreshments. The roaring success of the event should be attributed to Miss Prunty, The first class meeting was held early in February, and the following officers were elected: Harold Novak, president, Jack Stgge, vice-president, Beverly Pope, secretary, Warren Lowen. 'treas- ll . The Junior play has become one or the high-lights of the school year. The play chosen this year was 'Oh, Professorn, a comedy in. three acts. The scene is laid in Brixton Academy, a select school for young ladies. .All the action tales place in the single summer day. The characters included: Jake, the Janitor, Bob Trump, Miss Frederica, assistant to the dean, Loretta Franks, Dean Aristotle, Andrew Speer, Michael Pemberton, a rich young bachelor, Howard Mo Clellan, Percival Courtwright, a poor professor, Richard Kirkpatrickg Jimmy Anderson, a young scapegrace, dLyman Streeterg Patricia Pat-- terson, a student, Marian Hogueg Fifi Dubois, a French lady, Mary Keenk and the following other students, Fluff, Jane Reinhartg Belle, Mary Bryant, Jean, Rosa Wheelerg Bertha, Lillian Powellg and Joan, Lowen and John, Holmes acted as stage managers. The net receipts of the play totaled more than 3150. ' The banquet at which the seniors were entertained by the Juniors was given May 7, at the Country Club. Harold Novak, president of the Junior class, acted as toastmaster and the following toasts were glveu by Juniors: 'The Years that the Locusts Have Eatenn-Kathleen lCooley5fWThe Sky's the Limit'-Beverly,Popeeg and WSit-down Strikesw- Jack Stone. The members of the junior class were also very proud of the fact that the-Queen of Ottawa High School,Miss Loraine Peacoch, was elect? ed from their class. ' The juniors of Ottawa High School participated in a large per- centage of the various extra curricular activities, including dra- matics, debate, orchestra, band, mixed chorus, and the other musical organizations.
