RED LWHITB f -,f-ff' li ,f- Cafeterla Food for the famlshed Just as the flrst frosty fall days began to take the klck out of g01llg' home to lunch came the glad news that the domestlc sclence department had rlsen once more to the OCCRQIOH wlth the warm lunch plan that had proved so successful the year before Pract1ce makes pel fect Those lunches were perfectls lusclous As the pleasmg odors crept under the doors of the class looms on the flrst floor It was wlth great dlfflculty that the YHFIOUQ teachers were able to hold class durlng the The lunches vs ere planned and p1 epaled bv the glrls of the domestic sclence depaltment superused bv M198 Gunselman The thlrd and fourth houl classes composed of sophomore glrls prepared the dl9h6S whlch lequlred a longel perlod of time These glrls also studled the composltxon of the foods and the calorles requlred by the students The freshmen glrls who composed the flfth and slxth hour perlods prepared the slmpler dlshes and were responslble for servlng the meals each day and carlng for the kltchen The slxth hour planned the menu for the followmg day The very small cost of f1fteen cents for from three to f1V9 dlshes made these lunches xx 1th1n easy reach of the students By very eff1c1ent calculatlon the recelpts were made to take care of the runmng expenses of the department and the purchase of new equlpment The glrls sold sandwlches between classes and made enough money to buy a tea cart for the d1n1ng room as well as a1d ln the purchase of a new buffet Mlss Guenselman was responslble for the lnstallatlon of thls most useful enterprlse two gears ago and due to her eff1c1ent sklll ln manage ment the cafeterla has been a. success ever slnce Much pralse IS also due the glrls whose splendld cooperat1on has helped to make the cafeterla a success 1924 s. S., is an excellent defensive player and has a good eye for the basket when he gets in the opposing teams' territory Errol is an excellent floor man with a good pivot and is good at taking the ball off the backboard Errol intends to go to O U next year JIM WILEY guard is an excellent defensive man especially under the basket Jim also has a good eye for the basket seldom shooting but making his shots count when he does He is a natural fighter and always plays a hard clean game from whistle to whistle Jim is a senior and his place will be hard to fill next year EUGENE FLAHERTY center has developed into an exceptionally good center using his height and great range to a good advantage Flahel ty has an excellent eye for the basket This IS Flaherty s first vear and as hc IS a sophomore a bright future is in store for him RALPH ANDERSON forward plays a clean hard fighting game or basketball Ralph is an excellent defensive man with a good pivot and a fair eye for the basket Ralph is a sophomore this year and will be back next year to help keep Ottawa on top of the heap EARL KINZIE forward came to O H S from Nickerson Kansas and proved to be more than he was heralded to be He is very fast ha an excellent pivot dribbles well and has a keen eye for the basket Kinzie IS the best forward in the North Central Kansas Basketball League and as he is a Junior this year will be back next fall to help make Ottawa a never defeated team LEE BARNETT center and forward plays a good game when he is light Lee 1S a good defensne man and has a good eye for the basket Lee will be back next year PHIL ANDREW forward is fast has a good pivot and a good eye for the basket Because of the stellar performance of the two regulars Phil did not get in many games Phil will not be back next year WILLIS BRISCOE guard and forward did not get into many games because of the fme work of the regulars but when he did get into the game he played a hard clean game of basketball Willis will not be back to O H S next year LEO STRAHAN forward has a keen eye for the basket and uses his height to a good advantage in taking the ball off the backboard Leo w1Il not be back to O H S next year Nou N6 HM ' f n Gtrouw OF THE Rem!
