To the Graduating Class of 1957 You are to be congratulated upon your successful completion of your high school course. During the past four years you have been confronted with and have over- come many obstacles whichl am certain have better prepared you for the duties and responsibilities of a good citizen. As the years pass, Ihope you will re- call pleasant and cherished high school memories among friends and fellow stu- dents by opening the covers of this book. My best wishes are for your continued success. MESSAGES MR. HAROLD C. TYSON Superintendent of Schools JAMES S, SVOLOS Supervising Principal Gold or Goal To obtain gold is relatively easy. To achieve a goal, other than amassing ma- terial wealth, is possible, but in so doing you must have high ideals, or philosophy has been of help to me and I offer it to you as a possible guidepostrtoward future success, which Isincerely wish the Seniors of 1957. Guide me thru another day, Chart my course where love may sway. Keep me free from selfish wrong, Teach me patience, make me strong. Keep me pure in tho't and deed, Bring me near where others need, Give me work, and strength to do, Make me gentle, keep me true.

BOARD OF EDUCATION First row: Mrs. Pearle Leonard, Treasurer Raymond Groves Elmer DAVIS Ira Beers Stuart Hurlburt, President: Mrs. Louise Bump Clerk Second row James S Svolos Principal: Harold Tyson, Superintendent of schools Lynn Hathaway We the class of 1957 are very grateful to the Board of Education. Our Board of Education, with the principal, is responsi- ble for the policies of our school. They follow the standards set up by the State Education Department in the administra- tion ofthe school, the selection of per- sonnel, managing of school finances, and carrying out of various other duties. Acting as a Board member, as one can readily see, is a chore which requires the giving of heart and head without thought to oneself. Such is the type of service rendered by the Board of Education of Otego Central School. At right: Mrs. Louise Bump Office secretary
