I f I , C- X . 2, , A - c - -HT L v 3 66444 wi It was twelve short years ago in September that Irmabelle Beers, Betty Reeves, Gerald Shaver and Agnes Sinn1ger bravely approached the doors of Otego Central to begin their school careers Beverly Trask ioined them 1n May of their second year In our third year we were invited to Join the fourth grade to take a train to Oneonta This was a big event in our lives We visited the Oneonta Fire Department and Post Office Of course, we won't forget the celebrations we had at the end of the first, second and third grade We always went to W1lber Park for a picnic In third grade we contributed empty boxes to build a store gained the knowledge of making change from playing store In this grade we presented WSncm White and Rose Redn at a grade assembly he constructed a huge dinosaur of papier-mache during our study of prehistoric animals We always will remember our study of Egypt in the fourth grade It was a struggle to spell hieroglyphics, but we did manage We made a Baffin Island scene with soap carved Polar Bears and a Belgian Congo scene Dur1ng our fifth year we had a great time doing Chemistry experiments It is a wonder we didn't blow up dear O C S , but of course we were carefully supervised We also tried our luck at a marionette show We chose WThe Wizard of Ozv Millard Hurlburt Joined us this year' In sixth grade we put on N3 V Clubn in connection with the Victory Garden program Helen Salluce, Betty Rake and Ann Sabedra came this year The first day of school the following year, promised a new and exciting year It seemed wonderful to be able to move about from room to room This was the year we were initiated The Burlap bags were a bit scratchy, but it was all great fun Nancy Haldane and Jackie Stever joined us in the seventh grade Eighth grade calls to mind the nervous strain we suffered during Regents week Jerry Fuller came this year Our advisors for our Freshman year were Mrs Bernice Bush and Mrs Donald 0'Connor On May lOth, we had our first dance St 0nge's Orchestra played Miss Henning and Mr Bonner became our advisors in our Sophomore year Our dance was held on April l8th this year with Walt Utter and his Merry Men of Note furnlshing the music Kathryn Jones and Osborne McMorris joined us this year The elghth graders and our class went to Albany in the spring We went to the Capitol, Educational big item in our Junior year Mr Bonner and Miss Henning stayed with us On December 19th we had our first dance Walt Utter played We had a Donkey basketball game on April 16th This was hilarious event, the Faculty versus the Juniors All were very good sports W chose June llth as the date for our Junior Pro NStardustN was our theme Edna Millias was choser Queen During our Senior'year Miss Henning and Mr Bonner remained as our advisors October 15th was our first dance Ernie Russ and Orchestra played On February llth our second dance was held with the same orchestra 'A Date With Judy' was presented on January 28th It was largely attended and a very successful performance As this yearbook goes to press we are anticipating a great trip at Easter time We plan to go to New York City, Gettysburg, Harrisburg, Philadelphia, Washington D C , Mount Vernon, and Williamsburg The real reward awaits us at Commencement in June It has been dlfficult at tlmes but it has truly been worth every effort put forth We will always be indebted to our school, principal and faculty Beverly Trask, Class Historian il,-.Q 31-1-1 i1 ' 7 -.1--1 4-1-'f 0 ' . . .
