' Teachers MfaDonala9 ' Mr. Kienly has been at Orville Wright since September, 1953. Before coming to Wright, he had teaching experiences at a military academy and the Manhattan Beach School District. He was always directed toward sports and when he arrived here he taught P.E, and later became the department chairman. Most recently, he has taught mathematics and supervised in the Opportunity Room. Upon retirement Mr. Kienly will have more time for his favorite sport, handball, and enjoying his vacation home in Utah. Mrs. Maniece has been at Orville Wright for seventeen years. Prior to coming to Wright she taught elementary school in Kansas and junior high at an army post in Leavenworth. For ten years she ran a nursery school and kindergarten. Her talents also included playing roles in semi-professional radio dramas. At Wright she has served as a drama teacher and chairman of the English Department. Mrs. Cohan first taught junior high school in the state of Illinois. After moving to Southern California, she taught elementary school and then came to Orville Wright in 1967 as an English teacher. Mrs. Cohan has acted as an assistant to the Girls Vice Principal and has served as a grade counselor since 19 65 . This year she has been especially dedicated to the Ninth Grade Class guiding them 'since the seventh grade. Alfa Pm Vaadmf Jdgt Mr. Vander Jagt began teaching in 1937 in the state of Michigan but soon moved to Cali- fornia to teach in a private school in Bellflower. During World War II he served as Chief Athletic Officer and taught swimming. Having received his education at five universities, including U.C.L.A. and U.S.C. , he has taught with the L.A. City Schools since 1945. For two years he served as an audio-visual consultant at the Board of Education. Before coming to Orville Wright Mr. Vander Iagt taught both social studies and English at Airport lr. High.
