PEE WEE FOOTBALL ORRVILLE JUNIOR BLUE TORRBNTS WIN DISTRICT CHAMPIONSHIP Twenty-four boys reported the first week in September for football practice under the direction of Coach J. H. Stavgers. They were as follows: Franklin Gantt, Frank Shadix, Walter Givhan, Bill Kirby, Billy Singleton, Bo Crawford, Royland Shoults, Bobby Childres, Russell Massey, Edmund Lacy, Billy Moore, Bobby Molette, George Reynolds, James Jewell, Lee Holladay, Raymond Parrott, Ed Warren, Floyd Plummer, Calvin Dykes, Tony Andrews, Gordon Geeslin, Noah Cole, George Agee, Dudley Reynolds. These boys did splendid work with Franklin Gantt as captain and Bobby Childres as co-captain. With five victories and one tie, these Junior Blue Torrents romped throuph the entire sea- son to capture the district title. I TE M The Orrville Blue Torrents had a successful basketball season, winning l8 games and losing 7. The Blue Torrents were seeded second place in the Third District Tournament. In rapid succession they defeated Vergena, Loretta, and Greensboro. This assured them a place in the finals and also a place in the State Tournament at Tuscaloosa--the first time an Orrville Basketball team had won this dis- tinction. In the hard fought finals the Torrents lost to a classy Perry County team, SO to 20. Coach Scarborough and the boys are to be congratulated upon their splendid work. 67
