BLUE TORRE TS The Blue Torrents began football practice on September 1, the first day of the 1947-'48 school term. The following boys reported for practice: Pat Knight, Sollie Oliver, Pete Pegues, M.C. Pat- terson, Stanhope Frasier, Glover Bridges, Sammie Lewis, Billy Childres, Bo Davis, Feg Patterson, Johnnie Meredith, Robert DeWitt, Joe Knight, How- ell Geeslin, E.P. Massey, Tom Moore, Cecil Moore, Kent Lauderback, Desmond Bridges, J. C. Bridges, Ralph Walker, Bobby Harrison, John Sherrer, and Harvey Lauderback. The squad was in excellent physical condition when we began practice, and we were spared much of the strenuous running that we received the preceding year. Most of us had worked and kept ourselves physically fit during vacation. During the last week of August many of the boys came to the school athletic field for unsupervised foot- ball practice. Coach John Scarborough was with us again. He commended us for our fine spirit and will-to-win. He believes, and has taught us to believe, that winning or losing the game is not all there is to football. The sportsmanship learned on the ath- letic field at Orrville High School this year will go with us throughout our lives. We appre- ciate the work of Coach Scarborough and we shall try always to make him proud of us. , ' gg K 6-1- 15 ,Q 1' Q5 286 p , Erma WM4m.fNs,, S Egg if ,NP-15 Jigmzgzgggnaa M, A M' 58
