HOOFPRINTS ’73 DEDICATION 2 The 1973 edition of Hoffprints is ded- icated to a dedicated lady, Mrs. Hilton. First coming to Orme in 1958, she has somehow managed to survive to the pre- sent day. Shorty Hilton teaches Algebra, Geometry, and her specialty. Chemistry. She is also the director of the girls' ath- letic program. However, her greatest accomplishment is the feeding of two- hundred ravenous students, twenty tired teachers, and assorted little kids twice a year on Caravan. Somehow, she manages to serve delightfully delicious meals for this hoard and keep her sense of humor at the same time. Many thanks, Jan, and here's your yearbook. 3 FALL TERM 4 5 FALL CARAVAN Do Buck, oh do Buck, oh do you see your trucks?.. .Truck 4 stinks... Silence comes with every emotion. Pain comes hard. You need to be on your own to put things in their true Perspective, to put you together. Smiling happiness. Sometimes solitude helps to intensify these feelings. To accept this wonderful thing for its true and flawless Beauty. Simple intricate love. When words don’t say enough, or the things you feel. Tolkien- THERESA KUHEL The wind was on the withered heath, but in the forest stirred no leaf; there shadows lay by night and day, and dark things silent creep beneath. The wind came down from mountains cold, and like a tide it roared and rolled; the branches groaned, the forest moaned, and leaves were laid upon the mould. The wind went from West to East; all movement in the forest ceased, but shrill and harsh across the marsh its whistling voices were released. The grasses hissed, their tassels bent, the reeds were rattling—on it went over shaken pool, under heavens cool where racing clouds were torn and rent. It passed the lonely Mountain bare and swept above the dragon's lair: there black and dark lay boulders stark. 66 LINDA KYLE Survival 11 Volleyball 11,12 Softball 11,12 Photography 11,12 Spanish Club 11 Tumbling 12 Yearbook 12 Senior Class President Orientation Committee 12 What we seek is a new idea, a different way to think. One school is finished and the time has come for another to begin. As it had shined across him all his life, so understanding lighted that moment for Jonathan Seagull. They were right. He could fly higher, and it was time to go home. He gave one last look across the sky, across the magnificent silver land where he had learned so much. I'm ready, he said at last. And Jonathan Livingston Seagull rose with the two starbright gulls to disappear into a perfect dark sky. -Richard Bach, JONATHAN LIVINGSTON SEAGULL- 69 ADELE MCDANIEL Drill Team 12 Caravan Committee 12 Fine Arts Committee 12 Choir 12 Senior Shack 12 French Club 12 Horsemanship 12 Brothers and Sisters 12 I love you not only for what you have made of yourself, but also for what you are making of me -unknown- Let others tell of storms and showers.
