36444 0 The Block O has had a very busy year, as we teamed with the G. A. A. and spon- sored the pre-game dance heralding the Orland-Willows Big-Little Game. We all attended the annual banquet for J. V. and Varsity football players, sponsored by the Kiwanis Club in December. In March, we staged the 7th Annual Box- ing Show, which pleased the crowd with many hard-fought rounds. The Annual Sportsmanship Awards were given this year on the basis of attitude, scho lastic standing and ability to a player of each of the four major sports as follows: Jerry Miller, Footballg John Second, Basket- ballg Gary Freeman, Baseballg Grant Simic, Track. A Block O - G.A.A. Picnic terminated a very successful year under the advisorship of Coach Marshall Latimer. O ' I 9 0 Margaret Levet, Mary Anne Haglund, Rox- anne Ferry, Allyene Ruff, President - Laurene Howardg President - Mary Ogburng Joanne Hull, Marie Fitzgerald, Lana Stockton, Joan Wallace, Judi Wadman. With the leadership of our presidents, Laurene Howard ffirst semesterj and Mary Ogburn Qsecond semesterj, this year has been filled with many activities for the G. A. A. girls. Our first activity for the year was the Pre- game Dance before the Orland-Willows game. Donna O'Hair was crowned Football Queen and reigned over the dance and game. Our first playday was for Volleyball, an in- vitational tournament in which Hamilton City, Willows and Orland girls participated. We gave our annual Sock-Hop in January. Our hotly contested Basketball playday was held at night. The Sophomores won the cham- pionship. During the spring we had soccer and softball tournaments, much to the enjoyment of all the girls. Showboat was the theme of our annual dance revue. A matinee presented for the gram- mar school and junior high on March 13, was followed by an evening performance given for the public on the 14th. Initiations were held twice during the year with the initiates wearing the traditional white- and-black, old-fashioned garb. This year has been an exciting and fun-filled time for the G. A.A.
