Under the leadership of Sharon Wilson as president the first semester and Meta Varner the second semester, our G,A,A, had a full and successful year, The Orland -Willows pre -game dance was the first activity we sponsored this year, It was held November 9. Five girls were nominated by the Varsity squad for Football Queen: Roberta Rodriquez, Sarah White, Patti Hibdon, Kay Sweet and JoAnn Graves. Bert Rodriquez was elected by the Student Body to reign over the dance and game, Three Play Days were held for girls' sports: soccer in December, basketball in January, and volleyball in March, In the soccer tournament, which was very hard -fought, there was a three -way tie between Junior II, Senior II and Junior III groups. In basketball and volleyball, Senior teams were victorious. We were scheduled to give the Annual G,A,A, Sock Hop in February, but this year we changed the theme to Headdress Hop. All sorts of crazy hats were worn, and the kids still danced in their socks, The big money-making project was the Annual Dance Review, titled this year, The Frantic Fifties, Two performances were given - a matinee on Thursday, March 28, for the students, and an evening show on Friday, March 29, In April, the slumber party, which turns out always to be a no-sleep party, was enjoyed by about 60 girls, The evening and morning hours were spent with all sorts of games and activities, including a movie. Initiations were held at various times throughout the year, The usual crazy dresses and get -ups were worn by all the incoming girls. This year has been one of the most active that the G,A,A, has ever had, and the girls really enjoyed it,

Those who attended were JoAnn Schaad, advisorg Patti Hibdon, president, and Sharon Troxel, treasurer, In December we helped Our big brothers, F,F. A, , by fixing a lunch for them while they worked on their scrap metal drive. We also made sandwiches for them for their annual Bred Gilt Sale, The Orland Chapter took honors at the annual Section lll meeting, which was held at Colusa this year. We had the largest membership in all of the Chapters in Section III, with a total of 67, We also had the largest representation at the Section meeting, with 29 members, our advisor, and our chapter mother attending.
