F. H. A. Activities The Or land Chapter of the Future Homemakers of America began the 1950-51 year on September 14th. The first meeting was called to order by the past Vice- President, Bonnie Behrend. The following new officers were elected for the year: President------- Vice-President - Secretary - - - Treasurer - - Reporter - - - Parliamentarian. Historian - - - - — Lois Miller - Ardella Johnson - Juanita Killion Delores Minnaert Eleanor Bjorklund - Mary Hanrahan - Bonnie Behrend Mrs. Tom Tabor was the Chapter Advisor. Mrs. Alfred Behrend was chosen Chapter Mother and Walter Wesselas Chapter Father. Some of the party projects for the year were masquerade party, barn dance, caroling party, Valentine party. Mother-Daughter Banquet and Easter breakfast. The special goals which were carried our during the year were: 1. To promote a grow- ing appreciation of the joys and satisfactions of homemaking, and 2, To foster the development of creative leadership in home and community life. Moneymaking projects completed during the year were serving lunches at basketball games, card sales, and Hobo Day clean-up. All twenty-five members of the local chapter attended the State F. H. A. Con- vention held in Brookings on October 6 and 7. Delores Minnaert, past second Vice- President, assisted in the arrangements for this meeting, Lois Miller, Juanita Killion, Mary Johnson, Eleanor Bjorklund, and Ardella and Arlene Johnson stayed at the Wecota Hall at State College so that they could be present for the Saturday session. At this session, the reports of the different committees were given. State Homemaker Awards were conferred upon thirteen members in the State. Five of these awards were presented to members of the Orland Chapter. Those from Orland who received them were Delores Minnaert, Fern Williams, Pat Clancy, Lois Miller, and Eleanor Bjorklund.
