Freshman Class Activities On September 4, 1950, thirteen Freshmen enrolled at Orland High School--five boys and eight girls, Rae Winesburg, Jane Behrend, Joanne Meehan, Gloria Keppen, Marlene Minnaert, Bill McAllister, John Adams, Jim Clancy, Dale Holter, and Dan O’Connell entered from Orland Grade School. Arlowene Grayson came to Orland from Brookfield, Marilyn Thompson from Keegan, and Ruth Fromader from Moseson. Olga Adolfsen returned from her trip to Denmark on October first. Initiation week was held the second week of the school year. It was concluded with a party given by the Seniors. The following week, this party was returned by the Freshmen. The Freshman candidates for King and Queen of the carnival were Marlene Minnaert and Dan O’Connell. During the first semester, Bill McAllister was on the honor roll each six weeks. Subjects that the Freshmen took this year are Home Economics, Algebra, World History, Agriculture, and English. The boys all played basketball, and the girls belonged to G. A. A. Other organizations to which the Freshmen belonged were the F. H. A., F. F. A., glee club, and band.
