a team returns victorious Fresh from a 12-10 upset victory over Illinois, the Oregon State football team and new coach, Dee Andros, returned to an enthusiastic welcome from OSU students and Corvallis residents. Both the football team and the student body were hopeful that the Illinois victory would be indicative of the season to come. A victory kiss for Dec Andros.

best 'dam” get-together ever It began last spring—the plans and the preparations. Chairman, Lance Hurt, selected his subchairmen who in turn selected their subchairmen and the real work began. But first a theme was needed—one short and catchy but providing adequate possibilities for house signs and buttons. “Dam the Cougars”—the committee liked it, the administration approved it, the students razzed it and some alums were shocked by it. But “Dam the Cougars” it was and despite last minute difficulties, plans and preparations materialized smoothly. The controversial Homecoming buttons were sold and the administration termed the 1965 Homecoming “one of the most successful ever.” Festivities began late Friday afternoon, October 29, with loudspeakers blaring and a crisp snap to the air. Students, alums, and townspeople flocked to see the living group house signs. Late nights, tears of frustration and mass panic had finished them. After a month of secrecy and rivalry, each group presented its paper and wood version of the theme. As night fell students gathered in front of living groups with floats, signs Everyone went to the fire hut the coaches.
