Fog moves in, encloses the campus, dulling the shimmering lights of the Quad’s Christmas tree. But what difference does it make ... ? No one cares. The quad is deserted, the library is full. The cheer of the Christmas season is subdued as students who are more occupied with self — finals, grades — almost forget Christmas.

CHRISTMAS IN CONTRAST A busy, bustling, gay time — Yuletide season at Oregon State — Class Christmas trees brighten the MU. The senior tree wins as usual, despite the original decorations and hard work of other classes. The MU Christmas party completes the scene . . . Mr. and Mrs. Claus and the invasion of hundreds of beaming children. The All Campus Sing —flick of candles and students gather in the quad, bundled in sweatshirts, coats, scarves, and mittens to keep out the nipping air. Students together for a few minutes to share the Christmas spirit before vacation.

WINTER Rain seems to be the main ingredient of the season. Umbrella-covered students scurrying from building to building... umbrellas piled outside of classrooms . . . students sitting through class with soaking feet despite boots and umbrella... Infirmary full during final week ... a time to stay indoors, a girl staring forlornly at the drops as they beat against the window. But regardless of the rain, the term whizzes by . ..
