Alcott, once noted, Observation more than books, experience rather than persons, are the prime educators. This book, filled with pictures of students, teachers, and many unforgetable events, is symbolic of this phase of education, for clubs and other observation and experience. Our very indulgence in school activities causes the years to pass swiftly by. As we walk through the halls for the last time, we realize that we are soon to step out into the busy world But we are prepared, for we not only possess a wealth of facts, but also know how to make use of them. This is the value of club and class activities. These activities have been recorded and placed in this volume, a treasure chest of memories of the school year 195 6-57. srvvfm Vice-President ROY CARLEY vw. - .- Y, G'irI's Representativl RITA MISKE STUDENT BODY PRESIDENT JERRY HRABEL This year's student council, consisting of a president, vice-president, secretary, Boy's repre- sentative, Girl's representative, editors of the l-lesperian, and of the Elevator, was expanded to include home room representatives. The repre- sentatives, acting as discussion leaders in their home rooms, brought recommendations and sug- gestions to the meetings. There they were further discussed and decisions were formed, Then a meeting of the seven student council members and Mr, Barnett was held to begin action on the suggestions, Through the policies and activities we aimed to promote greater harmony among the students, faculty, and administration, de- velop leadership in the students, and make school lite more profitable, wholesome and en- ioyable for the students in general. Having completed our school years, we have many happy mem- ories to fill our thoughts. Gone also are the formal dances, the football and basket- ball games, the class plays, and many other memorable events that we cannot express in words. Passed are the days in which we have planned how to enter the realm of the adult world, for we are now taking that vital step, We will miss the friendly days of school, the friendship of our fellow classmates, and the helping hand that our teachers gave to us on the road to knowledge, for now, all this is forming the past, and we look to the future. We, the Senior Class of l957, say good-bye to you, the Oregon City Senior High School, and to all the memorable events that helped to make our high school years happy ones. . . - can-eve , Simons - - - 00R W.S'l7'0R FRUM NORWAY I admit I was a bit scared the first day at school, but it did not last very long, because I met so many nice and helpful students It will be very hard to leave all of you and go back to Norway. I'd like to thank you, both the teachers and the stu- dents, for having been so wonderful to me. Surely our schools are auite different. I had never before seen anything like so many of your activities. I-lowever it did not take me long to realize that you -are like Norwegian students and enjoy the same things. After a while, I was well adjusted to your school system. It is hard to say in simple words what I have got out of the year hereg it is more than I can cover. My experiences are so many and my understanding of your way of life is so much better. You are certainly wonderful people, and I have so much to be thankful for. I enioyed every minute of my stay in Oregon City. Good-bye and good luck to all of you, Aagot Falkanger Lulu Pung . Don Carlton . Professor . Charlotte Carlton Doc Ferris . Zadoc Grimes .
