Vocational Agriculture is taught by Mr. Andreesen. The class vvas organized to provide a basic knowledge of what agriculture is and vvhy it is a vital industry in our society. There are different levels of the class. Vocational Agriculture I consists of careers in agriculture, animal science, and other areas studied. Voca- tional Agriculture ll is designed for sophomores which consists of pasture and range management, plant and soil science, along with animal nutrient, Vocational Agriculture lll is offered to the Juniors and Seniors, This course content for this level consists of cover plants, soils, and animal science, analysis and evaluation of the supervises agricultural ex- perience program, and insurance and tax management. Having a class discusion in Vocational Agriculture is the instructor, Mr. Andreesen. Taking a break from a hectic day is Frank Andreesen. The shop department offers many different classes. The classes consist of woods, and mechanical drawing, which are taught by Mr. Koelling. The woods class benefits the students in his knowledge of wood working. They learn how to use different types of tools and make projects, such as picture frames, gun cabinets, and other types of furniture. In mechanical drawing, they learn how to use drafing equip- ment which enables them to read blue prints, technical drawing and parts drawing. As the year progresses, the students will work on their own set of house plans. Another class in the shop department is power mechanics. Mr. Bruha is the teacher. The students learn the basics of a car. The first semester is spent in the classroom. During the se- cond semester the students work inthe shop. e lit 1 ... S i C 8 U C 3 i o n 48 Academics Physical Education is under the direction of Miss Weber and Mr. Steele. This is lvlr. Steele's first year at OHS. ln the PE. curriculum they learn the basics of sporting activities such as dodge ball, whiffle ball, soccer, wall tennis, and volleyball. Lifetime sports activities include, outdoor tennis, golf, and bowling. Next fall swimming will be added to the schedule. Strength conditioning is offered for both the males and females in grades 9-12. ln this class they work on the different weight machines to help shape and tone muscle tissue. To finish off the year the men's weight classes compete in the lift-a-thon. Checking Becki Trenhaile for the percentage of body fat is Miss Weber. Giving someone that sly look is Coach Steele. Reading the results from the previous night's basketball games is Mr. Steele.
