ti Mr. Carl Streeter gives Kim Michalski an electrocardiogram tape and explains its pur- pose. Shana Leggett looks on. Mr. Dave Huston tries to make the equations seem clearer as he discusses the problem with Mike Upah. lvlr. Streeter is the Biology and Physiology teacher at OHS. ln the first semester, the biology students study living struc- tures. The second semester consists of studying the most highly developed multicellular organism-man. ln the Physiology class students go through detail- ed examinations of the systems of the human body. The class disects cats to help learn the struc- tures. A particular highlight of the class is a field trip to Kearney to see the cadaver lab and to tour the Good Samaritan Hospital. Mr. Huston teaches a wide selection of science classes which include Science 8, Chemistry, Advanced Chemistry, Business Math, and Physics. ln these classes they perform many experiments. Mr. Bar- tholomew instructs the 7th and 9th grade science classes. They learn Physical and Lite science, Genetics, and rocketry. Mr. Bartholomew poses for the camera. . Academics 45

Miss Johnson has been the music director at Ord for the past nine years. She prepares the vocal music students for all of the events such as the All School Variety Show, Fall Concert, Christmas Contata, and also works with the selected small groups that compete at contests inthe Spring. Swing Singers is a group of select students who must have the ability to sing and dance in front of many audiences. The Swing Choir is a public relations group for the Ord High School. This year the Swing Singers add- ed a new selection of Jazz and a Segment of the Beach Boys to their performances. Mr. Niles has been the band teacher at Ord High School for three years. His rnain goal in- volves preparing his students for pep band and marching band, which perform at most of the athletic activities throughout the school year. ln the Fall, the band travels to North Loup to march in the Popcorn Days parade. During the school year the members work hard at raising money for the trip to Kansas City. ln the spring they attend the Worlds of Fun Festival of Events. The shop department offers many different classes. The classes consist of woods, and mechanical drawing, which are taught by Mr. Koelling. The woods class benefits the students in his knowledge of wood working. They learn how to use different types of tools and make projects, such as picture frames, gun cabinets, and other types of furniture. In mechanical drawing, they learn how to use drafing equip- ment which enables them to read blue prints, technical drawing and parts drawing. As the year progresses, the students will work on their own set of house plans. Another class in the shop department is power mechanics. Mr. Bruha is the teacher. The students learn the basics of a car. The first semester is spent in the classroom. During the se- cond semester the students work inthe shop. e lit 1 ...
