As the summer vacation came to an end and the 87-88 school year began, it was time for another 9 months of waiting for next summer. For some it meant studying for hours and playing sports after school with no time for anything else. To most of us, it meant more socializing, more time to sleep Cduring classy and just somewhere to be without getting into trouble, maybe. After a few weeks, summer was just an old memory. Just thinking of lying on the beach, being in Hawaii, or just staying out late on weeknights was enough to make us want to do it all over again. Some of the things that went on this summer were going to the beach, camping at San Elijo, or in Baja, Mexico. Others enjoyed motorcycling around Valley Center, Glamis, and other dirt spots. One of the most exciting things for the jocks was the football Sierra trip. Overall, the majority of us thought that the parties were the best part of the summer. The nightlife consisted of Monday and Tuesday nights at the movies when admission was only S2, dancing away at After Dark or Distillery East on Wednesday and Thursday nights when admission was free or at a discount price. Valley Parkway continued its popularity with several car and truck clubs cruising on Friday and Saturday nights. Quik Corner was still the main place to find out where the parties were. For the less fortunate, some students spent their time working and staying white. But hey - this summer they will probably be pulling into Solana Beach with their new Porsches while the rest of us drive in our family mobiles. No matter how the summer was spent, the majority of us sure had fun. And for those seniors who are graduating in 88, the memories made here will never be forgotten.
