This Is The Year That Was The year 1966-67 was quite a year. For the student.... The year of the fastback car... .the year of the miniskirt.., .the year of the backless dress... .the year of the topless dancer... .the year of the mod look... .the year that teachers rode motorcycles to school... .the year that the hair on the boys was longer than the hair on the girls.... the year of student protest. For the class of 1967.... The year that a senior lawn was established, setting a tradition for Orange Glen... .the year which marked the end of a four year adventure which saw our school grow from a cluster of sorted buildings to one of the best units of secondary education in San Diego County... .the beginning of a new life for graduating seniors.... And for the rest of the nation.... The year that 3000 American boys died in a far away land for a cause in which they believed... .the year bacon cost a dollar a pound... .a new car ' s average cost was $3000.. . .the year of racial unrest in America.... the governor of California was Ronald Reagan... .the world land speed record was 604.2 miles per hour, held by Art Arfons. 4

Dedication Mr. John Damelio: drama club director; speech club adviser; teacher of speech, drama, and yearbook; husband and father is a man to be admired. Mr. Damelio has been the tireless ' Jack of all trades ' at Orange Glen since it ' s inception In 1962. In that year, he taught freshman English and speech. Since then, he has taken on yearbook, drama, and ad- vaneed speech . Mr. John L. Damelio Since that first year, Mr. D. as he is affectionately known, has encouraged the debate and speech program for Patriot speakers, and directed the many dramatic productions which occured this year, as he has the ones of previous years. This man of tireless energy, this campus leader, does not know that we have dedicated this book to him. Without Mr. John Damelio this yearbook. It ' s prede¬ cessors, the drama club, and many, many honors for OG would not have been possible. We thank you, Mr. John Damelio. The Torch ' 67 staff June 1, 1967
