Brick and mosaic work combine with contemporary styling to make the new OCC Home Economics Building one of the most up-to-date in the area. De- signed around a U-shape, the new build- ing houses six classrooms which face a brick patio. Each division of the building has been carefully equipped under the watchful eyes of Miss Anita Rawchuck and Mrs. Mina Harper Hutchison, home economics instructors. The new foods laboratory has seven individual kitchen units. Each section Is equipped with a stove, sink, garbage disposal, counter work space, cupboard and storage space. A combination washer-dryer, on oven, stove top and refrigerator are also available. Special feature of the department is a new elec- tronic oven. A clothing laboratory is also included. It holds units which have all necessary equipment for sewing, tailoring and fitting. Turquoise, moss greens and burnt or- ange with walnut woods and brick pan- eling are used to make the living room- classroom equally suitable for small classes or departmental entertainment and teas. The crafts laboratory is a combination lecture classroom and a room for the good grooming and interior decorating classes. It may also be used as an extra sewing room.
