-'P 'zu - S. May 21,1976 Academic Awards Moy 27 The Ontario High School's Booster Club will be sponsoring the Ninth Annual Academic Awards Program. The awards will be presented by Mr. Dakin, Principal, and Mrs. Speas, Assist. Principal. The academic awards will be given to one of four outstanding students in various areas. The teachers in these academic areas chose these students through academic excellence. Besides the academic awards, there are many service and scholarship awards given by prominent service clubs and colleges. The Kiwanis, Elks, Soroptimist, Key, and Girls' League clubs will be giving their awards based on service and citizenship excellence. Many times the awards are plaques, but sometimes they are cash awards. The Chaffey Trust, Gemco and California Savings 8: Loan give scholarships. A number of students will be presented grants by colleges. The mystery of the awards is that the students many times don't know in what areas they will receive the award. All students who are to receive an SENIOR STA Ontario High School has now seen 13 issues of the Jag-Wire published and distributed among its students to inform them of school activities, and will soon see the 1975-76 Onca. The staffs that put together these two publications are composed of students who are sophomores through seniors. Those who are seniors will not be with Ontario next year to continue their work, and many students do not know who these people are. Page 3 Dakin Evaluates Seniors Soon your fourth year of high school will come to an end, opening the way for each of you to take another step toward meeting your goals in life. As l reflect on these four years that have gone by so quickly, I am grateful that so many of you have contributed to making Ontario High School a better school and the community a better place in which to live. Many of the curriculum changes that have been made and will be made in the future are a result of your recommendations, criticisms, and discussion with staff. The Student Council has paved the way for more open communications between the council members, students, and staff. This should create a better atmosphere on campus. The activities programs have made great strides. The future looks good for both girls and boys, athletics, the fledgling intra-mural program has been successful and will be expanded next year, the performing groups such as the band, orchestra, drama, chorus, etc. have done an excellent job, and the publication class, which is dominated by seniors, has made excellent progress in improving the school paper. In view of these things Ihave mentioned and many others that could be mentioned, l feel that the future for the members of the Class of 1976 is certainly bright. l personally wish each of you a most successful future. Alfred E. Dakin Principal Affciin The Goofs You Hove Ser During the process of re-evaluating my thoughts and desperately trying to justify all its unwanted fears, guilts and anxieties, I find a lot of these unresolved questions are left unanswered. The mind explores in depth those things that sometimes seem too difficult to be answered in the present physical state. As we mature our mind is constantly developing and exploring crevices of knowledge that entail our future, our thoughts and those feelings that exist within us. On june 9, 1976, the Senior Class of Ontario High School will hold its commencement services marking the beginning of our future as young men and women. Exploring life in its fullest essence will be left up to us as individuals. Success is yours, attain all those goals that you have set for yourself and more. Give your mind the freedom to be creative and adventurous. There are many paths that will be chosen, as there are many individuals with different desires. But whatever you do, do it to its fullest extent. Robin Avant
