Siudenis A1-lend Girls' and Bogs' Siaie The Oneonta High School faculty selected one girl and two boys to attend the annual Alabama Girls' and Boys' State. Those chosen werelan Harrelson, Steve Patton, and John NeSmith. They were chosen on the basis of scholar- ship, character, and potential leader- ship. To Top Three Seniors Barri Brittain was named Salutatorian of the Senior class. Barri is the editor of the TOMAHAWK, director of the Oneonta Girls Chorus, and captain of the Gymnastic Team. She is also a member of the National Honor Society. Barri's scholastic average was 94.90. Historian was Caryn Bains. Her average was 94.65. Caryn served as Head Majorette for the Redskin band and is also a member of the National Honor Society.

Good Cifizenship Traiis Rewarded K f W rw 41, 5' Two honors based on good citi- zenship are given annually. Both honors are awarded on a faculty vote. J an Harrelson and Lee Guyton attended the 1970-71 Alabama Conference on Citizenship at the Jefferson Davis Hotel in Montgomery. Jan Harrelson also received the D.A.R. Good Citizenship Award. Jan, Sandra Arnold, and Donna Jones were nominated by the Senior class and from these three the faculty selected one. The award is sponsored by the Daughters of the American Revolu- tion. The Birmingham Chapter pro- vides a written examination each year for the D.A,R, girl. 'I27
