Debbi Bent lex Chosen DAR Good Citizenship Girl The DAR Good Citizenship Girl is a girl chosen by the faculty from three girls nominated by the senior class. The DAR Good Citizenship Girl is considered by the faculty to be the girl who shows those qualities most desirable for good citizenship in young women. This project is sponsored annually by the Daughters of the American Revolution. The Birmingham chapter of the DAR provides a written examination for the school ' s DAR girl each year. This examination is primarily on American history and current events. Upon graduation, the DAR Good Citizenship Girl re- ceives a pin and a Certificate of Honor. Noah Dean Miller and Yvette Peck Attend Citizen sh ip Conferen ce Yvette Peck and Noah Dean Miller were chosen by the faculty on the basis of their citizenship in school as delegates to the Alabama Conference on Citizenship. They attended this conference on February 24,1969, at the Jefferson Davis Hotel in Montgomery. The purpose of this annual Citizenship Conference is to help young people understand their responsibilities and duties as citizens and to encourage their active participation in government. 124

The Danforth Award which is presented every year at graduation is considered the highest honor a student can receive at Oneonta High School. The recipients this year were Noah Dean Miller and Yvette Peck. Noah Dean and Yvette have excelled in every phase of high school life. They have demonstrated outstand- ing qualities of leadership, scholarship, citizenship, char- acter, and service to their school and community. Danforth Award Is Highest Senior Honor 123
