Rainbow strings, the dance band and the pep band are the special groups which the director of instrumental music, Samuel F. Thomas, sponsors. Mr. Thomas is chairman of the All- city orchestra and the Omaha chair- man of the National String Teacher's association, Fishing is his favorite pastime in summer and ice skating, in winter. Mr. Thomas has his bach- elor and master of arts degrees from Omaha university. Mrs. Constance Tullis' school day be- gins at 7:30 when she teaches a be- fore school biology class. She also teaches general science. Being with her eight year old daughter rates as her favorite hobby. Mrs. Tullis also enjoys hiking and camping. She has her bachelor's degree from Omaha university and her master's degree from Nebraska university. She has also done biology field work at Minnesota university's biological sta- tion. Miss Florence Walker is an instructor in the Homemaking department. Miss Walker is co-sponsor of F.H.A. and a member of the Scholarship and Christmas Tea committees. Outside of school, Miss Walker enjoys reading, music, the theater and traveling. She has her bachelor's degree. Miss Walker has attended Colorado State college and the Universities of Omaha, Nebraska, Creighton, Southern Cali- fornia and Alaska. Jerald J. Weber is another newcomer to North's faculty this year. Mr. Weber teaches American and world history. He is also co-sponsor of Boys' UO Club and Student Council and as- sistant freshman football coach. Golf- ing, fishing and reading are Mr. Web- er's favorite hobbies, He has his bachelor's degree from Colorado uni- versity and is working on his master's degree at the University of Minnesota. NOT PICTURED: Mrs. Phyllis Alexander is a new figure on the Viking office staff this year. As school stenographer, Mrs. Alexander's chief job is taking letters, but she also does other jobs in the office. Mrs. Alexander pre- pared for her present job by attending business school. Outside of school, Mrs. Alexander enjoys playing the organ, reading and sewing, Teaching English to freshmen and sophomores is the job of Miss Zdenka Sedlacek. She is also a member of the Landscaping committee. Garden- ing, playing the piano and reading are Miss Sedlacek's chief interests. She also likes to travel. She has visited Mexico, Hawaii and Canada. Miss Sedlacek has her bachelor of arts degree from Nebraska university and her master's degree from Colum- bia university. ' Art is such a serious subject!
