Through thirty years of progress, little change has been noted in the outward appear- ance of the large E-shaped building called North High School. Its red brick walls, its front stained glass windows have all remained the same since the completion of the building in l924. But still the Viking school house has wit- nessed some visible changes with the passage of time. ln l944 a landscaping project was launched as a memorial to honor the graduates who gave their lives in World War ll. The beautiful lilac hedges, the mock-orange, the snowballs and the spirea which enhance the 4 D campus each spring bring thoughts of the fine boys who have given their lives for our free- dom. The west side entrance to the school, though it is seldom publicized, is by far the busiest. l-lere, the food for the cafeteria, the classroom magazines, and the new books are brought into the building. While work is being carried out on the west side of the building, the east side, which houses the front entrance to this educational center, stands in quiet solitude as the American flag waves freely in the breeze overhead.
