F 0 Sperm! Music Although the number of students taking the courses in Music here at Olney is small, the classes have remained stable throughout the years. In addition to Chorus I and II which are requirec subjects, classes in Theory and Practice, Harmony and Nfusic Literature are offered for those who plan to continue studying music after graduation. l - 1 DRIVER EDUCATION Driver training, a course initiated because of the increased demand for it by Olney stu- dents, was instituted quite recently. This course is one of the most popular electives offered. and it certainly provides the type of study needed to make good drivers. There are two cars avail- able which are used hy students for practice during the school day. JOURNALISM Many pupils in our school plan to emm- some phase of newspaper work after graduation. journalism offers them an opportunitv to learn the fundamentals of ncwswriting. Here they mav work on the school newspaper and experience first hand what it means to he a reporters IO

VOCATIONAL ART In addition to the regular art classes, three courses are offered by the Art Department to prepare students for various vocations which in- volve some facet of artistic knowledge. These are Art Appreciation, which stresses interior dec- orating and fashiong Applied Art, which shows how to use a knowledge of home furnishings and clothingg and finally, the Vocational Art Course which provides training for those pupils who intend to complete their training in an Art School. INDUSTRIAL ARTS The demand for engineers is an ever-in- creasing one in this modern world. The pre- college preparation for work in this Held is offered by the Industrial Arts Course. The course also provides training in other Fields of industrial work which will give students training necessary for immediate employment. 9

Nearly everv family at some time has an illness or 1111 injury, and the hurden and respoiisiliility of caring for the unfortuiiate mem- lier are lightened when someone is trained in the most recent and most efficient methods of Home Nursing. SEXVINC Another of the varied mi11or courses offered is sewing. which is not only educational but also very practical. The girls are taught to make at- tractive clothing, and frequently they are given opportunities to model their creations. This is just one of the many contributions which Olney has made for the future homemakers of America. CLERICAL COOPERATIVE COURSE Commercial students have an opportunity in 12B to choose a course in which they may eam money and receive practical experience in their field, While, at the same time, they are attending school. Under this plan, they work in pairs, each student alternating one week in school and 0116 week at work.
