Cross Country A strong cross-country team, captained by 'SFen Nolan, January, '38, repre- sented Olney for the season of 1957. Glney outran three suburban teams-fLans- dale, Ambler, and Upper Darby. The runners conquered Williamson by a perfect score, setting a lofty goal for future teams to equal. Germantown and Qverbroolc, and Central and Southern, were beaten in triangular meets. ln the city champion- ships the barriers remained in the winning column to finish third. SOCCGI' A ray of light in a lield of black was the soccer team in the Olney sporting world. Rated Hdark horsesf, the team, led by Co-captains Marks and Peterman, decisively defeated Penn Charter 2-1 and Overbrook 4-0. Gratz, who later became champion, was fought to a scoreless tie. Northeast, champions for more than a decade, was deadlocked with a 1-1 score. Three more victories followed--over Southern, 2-O: Central, 4-Og and West Philadelphia, 2-1. In what was a good year for Trojan hooters, the team forged steadily toward the head of the league, linishing in a tie for third place after losing a heart-hreaking 1-0 game to Frankford.
