They were amazed aT The very modern conveniences which The sTudenT ushers poinTed ouT To Them. i The Tormal dedicaTion exercises were opened in The evening wiTh an lnvocaTion by The Rev. A. Frank Houser. This was Tollowed by Two numbers given by The Girls Glee Club, aTTer which lvlr. William C. GreenawalT, SuperinTendenT oT Schools, gave The address oT welcome. SpiriTual Values was The subiecT discussed by The Very Rev. Thomas Plassman, PresiclenT oT SainT BonavenTure College. Following This Mr. HerberT L. SackeTT, The Principal oT Olean High School, gave a brieT Talk in reTrospecT and discussed The TuTure of The school. Following ArThur J. Benline's address on The Task oT The Public Works AdminisTraTion Mr. C. Pascal FranchoT gave The main Talk oT The evening speaking on A CommuniTy's ResponsibiliTy . AT The conclusion of lvlr. FranchoT's speech Mr. A. l.. Fremming represenTing E. L. Van Sickel, general conTracTor, presenTed The keys oT The building To The archiTecT who in Turn presenTed Them To Dr. Donald A. lv1acDuTTie, PresidenT oT The Board oT EducaTion who made The DedicaTory Address. The exercises were concluded wiTh a BenedicTion by The Very Rev. Joseph Groves. WiThin The walls may be Tound The mosT modern audiTorium in WesTern New York. The chemisTry, physics, and biology labora- Tories are The mosT modern To be Tound in any high school giving sTudenTs compleTe experimenTal pracTice. The caTeTeria is well lighTed, large and capable oT holding Three hundred persons aT a Time. A model aparTmenT is a TeaTure oT The homemaking deparT- menT. The library, a symphony in gray, is a room beauTiTul To behold: and The arT room also done in gray gives arT sTudenTs an excepTional place To Tind inspiraTion. OTher TeaTures include a sTandard elecTric Time clock sysTem, a compleTe inTer communicaTing Telephone sysTem and a radio speaker sysTem wiTh receivers Tor every room over which The prin- cipal makes daily homeroom announcemenTs. To The wesT of The old inclusTrial arTs building, an addiTion com- pleTed beTore The resT oT The new building, is The New lndusTrial ArTs Division. In This uniT consisTing oT old and new is The Machine Shop, The Wood Shop and The Mechanical Drawing room. There are class rooms on The second Tloor oT The new building. The New High School wiTh iTs Three large uniTs, The High School proper, The Gymnasium and The lndusTrial ArTs Building, all con- necTed presenTs an imposing appearance. This building sTands on Sullivan Hill a symbol of man's achieve- menT and an evidence oT a Task well and eTTicienTly done. I 6
