These philosophies are a reflection not only of the college they head, but of their individual personalities. Whether they advocated giving- students every chance, or working them as hard as possible . . . they advocated it because it was best for the students in college and in the future. Deans are not figure heads . . . they are the link between the president and the professors, they decide whether a student stays in college or is dropped, set up class schedules, interview and seek faculty- replacements.
