NATIONAL CAMPAIGN ON CAMPUS From the smallest behind-the-scenes jobs to prestige positions, Ohio State students avidly threw themselves into the hectic 1964 presidential campaign. They aided their candidates by taking polls, distributing flyers, and addressing enve- lopes. In addition, OSU students headed both the Goldwater and J ohnson statewide youth organiza- tions. The campaign over, Ohio Staters partici- pated in the model precinct vote count conducted by the three major TV networks. On campus the equal time rule prevailed. Over 800 students heard cabinet Secretary Anthony Celebrezze on Democratic Day. A documentary on the Kennedy administration, tthOO Days, was also shown. Republican Day featured Robert Taft Jr. and Oliver Bolton. The campus cam- paigns culminated in the Ohio State mock election in which Lyndon Johnson gained a plurality of 1850 votes.
