I 9 '63 .... a year of much excite- ment, many changes. The Cuban crisis, Royer Commons explosion, extra-cold winter days, be- tween-quarter trips to Nassau, Cooper's space flight, the coronation of a new Roman Catholic pontyf and a raise in University student fees are all part of this year's history. Traditions remained, too,--homecoming, white Christmas, Golddiggers, May Week, Corps Day, and Wednesday taps on the Oval--all interwoven in the pattern of lnfe at Ohio State. '

Tests, Tours, Fun Greet New Frosh Orientation was the first real look at Ohio State for many new freshmen. Student leaders took their individual groups on a campus tour. to the clinic for X-Rays, to large rooms for testing, and to group discussions in Mirror Lake hollow. On the second day the groups finished their tests. made out schedule cards. and ended the sessions with a mixer in the evening. The week before school started last September was Welcome Week for new freshmen and transfer students. After meeting on the oval. groups attended individual college meet- ings and were officially welcomed to the Buckeye student ranks by President Novice G. Fawcett.
