CHANGES NOT SEEN AT YEAR'S START An ordinary school year beginning did not indicate that 1962 would be such an eventful year. Oh, of course, the freshman class increased over 1960, but doesn't it al- ways? Total enrollment pushed the 25,000 mark. Other- wise, college life appeared to be the same ordinary drag of going to classes, studying to pass, chugging coffee to keep awake, TGIFing, and griping about, but paying, higher fees. An indication of changes to come was seen when the year was about two weeks old. Senate obtained longer library hours, there was talk about cracking down on scholarship, and students spoke out about the course dropping rule because they felt it limited their freedom of choice. All not very obvious changes in September, but a beginning of a year of new awareness. Bookstore mirrors were installed to watch large crowds.
