Anil more than ever l)efore. agriculture grew in .stature ana signilicance cfuring the past year. Evidence that agriculture has increased in im- jwrtance was found in a student enrollment ol 2.500. nearly as high as the record peak of years, immediately following the war. Further proof was rellected in the diversilied interests of both under- graduate and graduate students and in the quali- fications employers %vere demanding of agricul- tural graduates. The college met these increasing demands by broadening course electives and by constructing a new agricultural laboratories build- ing on the Universitv Farm. The building, re- ported to cost .SOfiO.OOO. is now nearing comple- tion, as is the .S800.000 adtlitlon to the Rotanv and Zoology Building. By correlating technical and educational facili- ties at its disposal, the College of Agricinture has developed an efficient administration. The dean of the college. Eeo L. Kummell. as director of the station, disseminated throughout the slate trie same findings as used here. Work was conducted with the College of Veterinary Medicine in re- search projects, and with pre-veterinary students studying basic agriculture. This kind of co-ordination lielpcd to dispel the fears of incoming students ol being lost in a large university. The college was often referred to as the friendliest on campus, and with good reason, too. It encouraged students of agriculture and home economics to join in many of the stu- tlent organizations which help to lurtlier their knowledge ol their liekl. W. D.
