PROPHECY Arriving at my destination in Hollywood, I drove my new convertible to the luxurious home of an old friend Marlene Wallace, who is now starring in a new Paramotmt picture, Passion at Midnight. Since I have a two weeks vacation Marlene decided to show me the si hts of Hollywood. Our first night was spent at Ciro's where we ate a delicious meal prepared by Chef Charles Clouse. The floor show featured Joanne Ever as one of the world 's greatest tap dancers. It was announced that we would be honored by a bass solo by none other than Ned Schiedt. Ned just finished a world wide concert tour. The orchestra started playing Blue Hawaii, which brought back memories of our Junior prom. Who should we see leading the orchestra but Don Keber. Setting at the next table were Janet and Dick Galloway who were vacationing in California. They left their twins home with the great artist Bob Good who was painting their portrait. Marlene and I advertised for escorts in the Times whose editor was Thelma Gephart. Our charm- ing escorts were Clarence Mottinger and Jack Smalley who took us to the hot rod races. We learned that Clarence is now pitcher for the Yankees, and that Jack is working, on his drawing for the rebuilding of the Brooklyn Bridge. A big roar from the crowd brings our attention ack to the races. Who should come in first but Bill Army. Passing the finish line his car turned over and burst into flame. His manager Don High called the ambulance. The doctor and nurse Ellen Schaadt rushed him to the hospital. The next day we went shopping at Pauline's Style Shop. Her merchandise manager is Lois Beach who visits Paris three times a year to bring back the most exclusive styles. Afterwards we stopped in a drugstore to find Wavel Taylor as manager of the Los Angeles branch of Pollak's Drug Store. After saying goodbye to Marlene I started on my way back to New York. Traveling through Texas I stopped to inquire of the whereabouts of the Stetler Motel, whose manager was Janice Ricketts, when I saw Christine. She had just attended a school operetta in which her youngest daughter had a leading role. She told me that Patty Hunter is now the wife of a Colorado ranch owner. My next stop was Ohio City. I learned that Melvin Fickert is going to quit farming and become the Secretary of Agriculture. Oh yes, Charles Doan is now the president of the United States. Lloyd Tolan is pretty busy these days, he just discovered an oil well on his farm. Driving down main street of Ohio City for the last time I happened to glance at High's pool room. Written on t e front in big letters was John Cramer, Assistant Manager. He obtained this position after serving five years as captain in the navy. Jim Clouse has been promoted to a higher rank since our old school days. Instead of Jim running errands for Mr. Cress, Mr. Cress is now running errands for Jim. I left Ohio City on a beautiful Sunday morning. Turning on the radio Iheard the well-known evangelist Reverend Bob Speakman, whose wife is none other than Rosalind Bigham. Arriving in New York I reported back to work. As news-reporter for 'The Star my first assign- ment was to cover the opening of a new television network in Florida. Deciding to fly down I boarded a Constellation to find Phyllis Witten a stewardess. I got my big story from Bob Brand who is the technical engineer of the new studio. I am sure that the world has benefited from such an outstanding class as that of 1953. A Iris Baker
