The ride was terrific and upon paying the fare I found it was one of my old classmates, Bob Mosier, Iwent into the hotel and walking up to the desk was stunned to find Gloria Adams so far away from home. She assigned me my room and called the bell hop, who was none other than Wally Smith, her husband. In my room I picked up a magazine with beautiful red and yellow apples on the cover and found they were grown and photographed by .Toe Hertel. That evening Gloria and I took in a boxing match which featured Carl Johnson as the winner, En route to California where I had a lovely summer home, I stopped at Washinton to see my state senator .Tack Wallick. We had a nice chat and Jack told me to be sure and stop in to see Dick Good who was a salesman for a large hairpin factory in Pittsburgh. I was very sorry to find Dick out touring the world following in the footsteps of his uncles While being so close I had time to stop off at Ohio City to visit my parents and learn more about my classmates. Dorothy Witten was 17 teaching the first grade and Mr, Leiendecker now Superintendent, is still teaching chemistry and drinking instant coffee while grading papers .Tim Witten has taken all the blue ribbons at the fairs with his sheep. The classes enjoy going out to Lester and .Tayne's bowling alley, a new sport center in the community. .Toyce Ayers having changed her name to Mrs. lives on a nice estate in Rockford. .Tim Carr has monopolized the block formerly owned by Zeigler's and has a new Super Market and 6 Big Sohio Service Stations. I bought my fare to Indianapolis and reading the Fort Wayne paper saw Irene Merkle was Chief nurse of St, Joe Hospital. In Indianapolis Danny Sutton has been appointed President of the Indianapolis Wig Company. I had to change trains in Des Moines Iowa and while waiting, stopped out to see .Toanne and Deloyd. Their farm and family keep them quite busy. My next stop was Denver Colorado. There I found Mary Wittung was busy on the Army Base running the canteen. Deciding to fly on home Iwas happy to find Alice Custer, the stewardess on the plane. When I got off the plane Imet Max Kohn, he was going back East to get a lawyer to take care of his matrimonial. mistakes. That evening on returning, Rosalyn Clouse and I attended a theatrical production starring Martha Clouse as a ballet dancer. Rosalyn is a secretary to the Movie star Jerry Lewis and loves his songs. Iwas very sorry to have missed seeing General Rex Hurless who had visited California during my tour, He was on his way to the home for worn out Generals. I'm sure the world was benefited by the honorable class of 1952 and I can rest easy again knowing that they all made good for themselves Barbara Cowgill 18 tml ,pw MSS . txxsi W ,115 1' . On one bright September morning in '48, twenty-eight freshmen entered O. C. L High School, willing and ready to achieve one main thing, --graduation. After we found our way around, we saw thr-ee new faces, we found out they were Joanne Wise, Barbara Cowgill, and Irene Merkle. As our leaders we chose Deloyd Rickard, and Carl Johnson. Our sponsor was Mr. Hampshire. Since our class like parties so well we had a Halloween party at Bob Mosier's, and Christmas party at Deloyd Rickard's, Now that our freshman year was over we were one year nearer our goal. All twenty-eight of us were willing to start another year of hard work for graduation. To guide us this year we chose Joanne Wise, and Barbara Cowgill, Our sponsor was Mr. Green. During this year we chose our class colors, they were Rose and Gray, our motto was chosen at this time. It is The Way Is Hard, But The Prize is Great, our flower is the pink rose. To help our class treasury, we had a cake raffle. As a form of recreation that year, we had a Halloween party at Rex Hurless'sp a Christmas party at Irene and Lester Merkle's. We also had a weiner roast at Rockford. i During our Sophomore year we lost Vernon Pontsler and Melba Agler, two very loved class members. We entered our third year with a greater determination to reach our goal. Twenty-three juniors had survived through the first two years. Our leaders for this year were Dick Good, President, Barbara Cowgill, Vice President, Joanne Wise, Secretary, Rosalyn Clouse, Treasurerg Alice Custer, Historian. During this year we gained Danny Sutton. We had a party at Joanne Wises's. On November 3, 1950, we had our class play, Do, Re, Mi. It was a success so it was taken to Willshire and presented there November 8, 1950. Mr. Cress, our sponsor directed the play. On May 11, we had our Prom, It was quite a success. Our theme was, Tiptoe Thru The Tulips. We received our class rings the day before Christmas vacation. We were all proud of them, and retained them for quite awhile. But now we see many of our members have lost their rings to someone else. At last we are Seniors. All of us are looking forward to graduation. We chose Irene Merkle, Pres.g Deloyd Dickard, Vice Pres., Mary Wittung, Treas.g and Joanne Wise, Sec. Our sponsor is Mr. Leiendecker. We had a bake sale this year to increase our treasury. We had a Chili Supper, March lst. We are trying in many ways to make money so we can have a class trip. At last we are almost ready to make the final step which we have been looking forward to for 12 long years. 19 T Vp W., . xx Q ' 1 'fi W5 3,19 690' ,I l K f if if iisi wiii AND rrsiiifiriii 1 P l OF THE CLASS OF '52 K.- X ' To whom it may concern, we the Senior Class of l952, of the Ohio City- ' Liberty High School, being of unsound mind, and memory and realizing that we must part with life here, do hereby pronounce this our last will and testament. C. L. After finally finding the right room for the right class at the right time, we elected our class officers. They were Pres. David Smalley, Vice Pres, Ronnie Brown, Sec. Helen lVlerkle, Treas. Shirley High and class sponsor, lVlr. Hadley. A bake sale put some more money in our class treasury which will need to be well filled for that Junior-Senior Prom in 1954. All work and no play makes .Tack a dull boy, So to remedy that we had a skating party, Our class took their part of the responsibility for the School Carnival and helped to make it a success. Nancy Spharr and David Smalley were our candidatesfor Carnival King and Queen. We were also well represented on the baseball and basketball teams, and especially in the cheering section. A juke box company put its new employee to work as collector of coins from the company's local juke boxes. For two weeks after he got the job, he failed to show up at the office. Then one day he walked in nonchalantly and said he had lost his key to the boxes. Where have you been? stormed the manager. You haven't even been around to collect your salary, What! exclaimed the surprised novice. Do I get a salary, too? Bob fto his friend1Where's that mule I told you to take out and have shod?
