she gave an encore I was 1nv1ted to come up to her apartment to meet her husband and s1x ch1ldren I was amazed to f1nd she had two sets of tr1plets I asked her how come she was skatxng when she saxd she was go1ng to be a nurse She sa1d she had started nursmg school There was an 1ce skat1ng rxnk near by and she went there often for she wanted to learn how to skate An 1nstructor there recogmzed her great talent and wxthout pay taught her to skate They fell madly 1n love and were marrned H15 parents were very r1ch but beheved thelr son should earn h1s own spendxng money That was why he worked as an mstructor H15 parents gave them the :ce show she was skat1ng 1n for a weddxng present Dev1lo her husband worked very hard to keep the show goxng at fxrst and now made S60 000 000 a year but they stxll l1ved as s1mply as possxble I fxnally found Eugene Re1cheneker among the turmo1l 1n Wash1ngton He IS now Secretary of Agrxculture Eugene has been proxrunent xn the nat1on's government for the last ten years When I met h1m for lunch he mvzted me to come to h1s apartment for supper and later attend a. party w1th hxm He sa1d he was very busy trymg to con trol 1nsects When he 1ntroduces one xnsect mn the country to get r1d of the other he has to mtroduce st1ll another one to control the one he has already 1mported On the whole he 15 domg a good Job Eugene IS the only bachelor 1n the Pres1dent s cabmet He IS very ellgxble and IS 1hV1tEd to practxcally every party gxven ln Wash1ngton 1n hopes he w1ll f1nd hxs future w1fe The party I went to w1th Eugene was the soclal event of the year The hostess was Mrs Tactful Words wxfe of the ambassador to the North Pole She personally met us at the door She was wearzng a very beaut1ful dress and a great many d1amonds At last I had found the whole class for she was Bern1ece Walter She had changed a great deal smce I had last seen her but I stxll but of course I had to declme her kmd 1nv1tat1on She was gomg to leave on a good w1ll tour of the world m weeks and she had to attend s1xteen char1ty benef1ts before she left Her home was very beaut1ful and contamed twenty fxve rooms The rooms contamed thmgs from all parts of the world She had made sxxteen round trxps of the world She had heard all the Sernors were domg so well I left for home after the party was over They were all so mce to me that I f1xed up my house to gmve a party for them 1 p1cked them up 1n my magxc carpet and took them to my home They all had so much fun that they decxded to get together every year Th1s proves you can never tell what people w1ll be do1ng 1n future years IX .41 W I6 recognized her. Future References The snake charmmg bus1ness wasn't too good last week and I was flying axmlessly on my mag1c carpet I declded to look up the graduates of '51 at O H S I had me' them on the1r sneak day many years ago Lookxng here IS what I found I acc1dently found a newspaper from I-hcksvxlle and Maurxce Mel1ne's name was lxsted as one of the mzmsters m the town When I flew down to hrs house he was just commg home from paymg a sxck vxsxt He IS st1ll dr1v1ng the old Ford he drove to school back mn O I-I S days He could only talk to me for a short whxle because h had to leave to go play on the Super Parsons Basketball Team but I was mvxted to stay for supper that mght Maurxce looked about the same except he was loslng has haxr I-Ie was loved by all and was recently presented wxth a toupee by the town I was about to ask hmm 1f he knew where Joyce Grrss was when she walked ln the door Maurxce sand I want you to meet my wxfe Joyce had just come back from gxvxng lectures at the Mxssxonary Socxety Whale she was getting supper she told me she had taught school for a year after she frmshed hxgh school She was employed by the Flylng Hxgh Air LIDCS for three years until Maurice persuaded her to settle down to earth She a very good cook They turned on thelr televxsxon set after supper for the Moma La Mour Show That was how I found Florance Crowell She was Moma La Mour I hardly recognxzed her for she had dyed her ha1r red and lost tlurty pounds She sang danced and acted parts from that great Shakespeare play Macbeth I was anxxous to talk to Florance and left for New York xmmedmately When I arrrved at her penthouse apartment her mald told me she was walkmg her dog Poochxe nn the park She told me she had changed her name for professxonal reasons and had never marrxed because she had never found anybody good enough for her She was earmng S50 O00 a year I regretted leavmg after seexng her for only a short whmle but I wanted to fund the rest of the Whlle flylng over Kansas I notlced a lot of people were exczted I landed at Topeka and found that Patrolwoman Turner had caught Pubhc Enemy No l wlthout fxrlng a shot I naturally wanted to meet th1s great woman You can lmagam my surprxse when I saw Patrolwoman Ialways get my man Turner was Rlta one of the graduates of 51 I dxdn t get to see her for very long because there were so many news reporters and many dmstlnguxshed men waltxng to talk to her She looked very glamorous 1n her polxce umform Thxs IS how she told me she caught Pretty Boy McGoon She had a t1p that he would be at the corner of 4th Street to hold up the Fxrst Natxonal Bank She knew there would be a lot of people hurt mf there was shootxng She dressed up IH her prettxest clothes and went to the bank to walt for hmm When she saw hmm commg she started walkmng down the street and fell down on purpose Pretty Boy always a ladxes man bent over to help her up Reta hxt hlm on the head wlth her purse whxch was full of brxcks and knocked hzm out The rest of h1s gang helpless wxthout hxs leadershxp surrendered wxthout a shot when the other polxcemen surrounded them Her husband Georgxe Meeker a Janxtor was very worrmed about her safety but she just laughed at hxm and sa1d Don t worry Honey Chlle I rn rnade of xron Reta also told me lone Rxpp was workrng ln Portland 1n an 1ce show and was domg very well When 1 arrxved xn Portland Oregon I found she was the star skater 1n an zce show called Wxngs on Ice lone set out to show me a good txrne by sending me a tlcket to the show and told me she would see me after the show when I called her about l 00 p m Ione dxd everythxng on skates that was possmble The audxence clapped so hard that 15 . , : ' I . . , , 1 .
