KATHY ISOM The Oceanside High School Soc- cer Team began the 1959-60 season as the defending Nassau County Champions. As the season pro- gressed, the team compiled win after win. With no defeats in league play, it looked as if Ocean- side would retain its crown. The playoff game against Southside took place at the Hofstra College athletic field. The game was ex- tremely well played by both teams. At the end of the regular playing time, the score was tied at two all. An overtime period was played. With less than a minute left to play Southside scored. This de- cided the game. This team is still regarded as one of the finest to emerge from Oceanside High. Louis Paggi, one of the outstanding players, was elected to the All-Scholastic Soccer Team. Wrestling is a sport that re- quires strength, skill, and steady practice. It gives the boys a chance to perform individually while working toward a team victory. Varsity wrestler Neils Biamon placed first in the South Shore Section 1 tournament. Jim Tem- pleton, Stan Johnson, and Tom Shevlin also placed in this tour- nament.
