Bfouwofui This year, 1959-60, marked Oakwood's first full year as an accredited liberal arts college. This yearbook, then, is unique in Oakwood's history. This is the first book that portrays Oakwood, from September to May, as an accredited college. Our theme through the year was refinement. The improvement of the college was dependent upon the improvement of the individual. So in these pages, you will detect refinement in many phases of our college life- in our classes, in our cafeteria, in our gymnasium activities, in our chapel exercises and lyceum programs, and in our work assignments. Because all of Oakwood's movement rotates on this axis, and because this phase of refinement permeates every other phase, it is listed last. This axis is God, this phase, religion. He fGodj is the center, circumference, the everything around which our campus life moves. In our religious services, and in our reverence to God, look and find refinement. We humbly and proudly present- accreditation - refinement- Oak- wood-centered around One God.
