Numerous classmates, associates, and friends concur that his joy in living evolved from self-sacrifice and service for others. He was possessed of an unrivaled spirit of generosity. His life radiated a contagious beam of inspiration that permeated the lives of those who knew him. He was richly endowed with unusual talent. His innate musical ability, lauded by all, made him equally skillful on the piano, bass violin, trumpet, and guitar. No musical program was complete without him. Thus, as a salute to a noble youth, a member of the Senior class of '51, we dedicate this, the ACORN of ,51, to the memory of the late Wilfrecl Dean. vfmrwf ffuafrioua eniom The illustrious seniors of '51 now achieving the goal of four yearis striving, are breasting the horizon of reality, casting beams of determined light against a dark future as do the stars that pierce the blackness of the night. In marching out, the Class of ,51 will carry with it a glowing flare of golden inspiration which leads to achievement. The reverent spirit of sincere devotion which culminates in spiritual integrity, the insatiable thirst for untainted knowledge and the assiduous Search for it which terminates in mental acumen, the rousing cry for physical and social development which results in physical culture and positive personailty is no longer a dream, but a real life achievement after four years of up-hill climb. These illustrious seniors will also carry with them a silver thread of tender memories to unravel through the coming years - memories of the stalwart oaks, majestic pines, the scenic campus, memories of devotions sincere and reverent, memories of friendships tried and true - never to be forgotten. As this gallant army of consecrated youth goes forth dividing their powers in ministry, teaching, business, science, and nursing, they are trusting the unseen hand of Omnipotence to guide their uncertain steps in the path of truth and duty which leads to ultimate victory. o 1 N .4 Y 41 u 1 1 1 I Y 1 3 A C i I v eniom JOHN H. For music has power to subdue the rude un-cultivated natures, power to quicken thought and awaken sympathy, and to promote harmony of action, and to banish the gloom and foreboding that destroy courage and weaken effort. Hence piano, organ, and voice cultivation serve religious, educational, and social needs. ..,,.,..,.. A , ...A mm-1-nw V wi.-.even-:L-5-J , MRS. IIARRIETT MOSLEY, li. N. MAXINE BRANTLEY Principal of Oakwood Academy VVe have 81 lively students enrolled in the Academy department of Oakwood - the depart- ment that prepares youth to enter the more specific service training courses of the college. They may not all know just which line of service they shall choose, nevertheless, they are getting ideas, and getting broad, firm faundations laid for their future education. In one, two, or three more years the enthusiastic academy students will be college freshmen. Then whether it is in the medical, teaching, or evangelistic field, they will be much better fitted by the pro- gram of learning they have received in our preparatory department. Our noblest purpose is to perfect in the student a character like that of lesusg our ambition is to have each fill his place in Godfs vineyardg and our highest aim is to help the student in be- coming acquainted with our Savior. May they ever be true to these ideals, and in the years to come, may their lives reflect credit upon the institution which has been their home during the formative period of their lives.
