1953 September- October - Next day- November- 2235- May- September- October- l9 5 Fegruary- March- June- September- Later in Septe SENIOR HISTORY Entered Oakridge High School feeling much younger than we had the year before, when we were top dogs in the junior high. With t e sophomores dragging us by the hair, we graciously consented to carry on the old tradition of painting the Poison oak. Commemorated Thanksgiving by presenting to the student body a highly original production en- titled The First Thanksgiving . Freshman Jr. Carnival Princess Janice Estes gave close competition to other princesees in contest for queen. Decorated for Baccalaureate. Entered school as sophomores. Class was represented in Tree Planting festivities by Tamaris Rogers, sophomore princess. One of the sophomore girls, Linda Bigger, was chosen as Queen of the VO Sweethearts Ball. In addition to her popu arity, the support of the sophomore class was important in making Pat Clifford, sophomore princess, Queen of the Jr. Carnival. Decorated for Commencement. Upperclassmen at last l mber- We ordered class rings. Still later in September- Our first duty as a junior class was to sponsor the annual Homecoming game and dance, at which Pat Clifford was chosen queen. October- Tryouts were held and practr ces were begun for the class play, Deadly Ernest. November- Play was successfully presented with a double cast. Later in November- Our class was represented by princesses Lavonne Jones and Janice Estes at the Tree Planting Fes- tival. 1956 January- Planning for Jr. Camival begins. February- Planning continues. Theme Frontier Days is chosen. Late Fe ruary- Planning gets frantic. March- Carnival goes off as planned, surprisingly. Tamaris Rogers, a loyal qand popularj junior, saved the class money by being elected Carnival Queen. May- Junior-Senior Banquet Maytime held. Later in May- Ebl:iTide used as theme for Junior-Senior Prom, with decorations of fish nets, sea-gulls, drift- woo , etc. September- Finally! At the top! Later in September- Kennell-Ellis Studio is chosen, and plans are made for senior pictures. Also, cards and announce- ments were ordered. October- When plans are made for the Senior Trip, we realize that in order to go to San Francisco, we need monev. November- Linda'Bigger, senior, reigned over the Tree Planting as Queen, and another senior girl, Pat Clifford, was a princess. Later in November- Dave Kocer, senior, makes District All-Star football team. I 57 Mgarch- Leonard Tirrill makes District All-Stars in basketball. March- Joanne Denison, senior princess, barely misses being Carnival Queen. April- Class play, Out of This World , presented by a dual cast. Later in April- Senior Parents sponsor a chili feed, to raise money for senior trip. May- Seniors Honored at Junior-Senior Banquet and Prom. Later in May- We leave on Senior Trip. June- Get back just in time for Baccalaureate and Commencement. 22
