Two years or more of French, German, Latin, and Spanish are offered by the Foreign Language Depart¬ ment, with emphasis placed on pronunciation and comprehension. A study is also made of native songs, history, and customs. Class work includes the reading of novels, poems, essays, and short stories in the foreign language being studied, especially in the ad¬ vanced classes. Accelerated courses are offered in Spanish and French. The students in these accelerated courses work more with vocabulary and grammar than do the regular and fourth year classes.
