SENIOR CLASS HISTORY In the fall of 45 forty three freshmen entered Oak Groxe It was quate strange to most of us at iarst but at dadn t take us long to become accustomed to oaar new eIlVlI'0Dmel1II Th get aequunted party wa probably the first actavaty we eacperlenced where we had oecasaon to meet some of our It lelaefs and fellow students Mass Kleppe was our hastory teacher Mr ordahl taught algebra Englash was headed by Mr uanbeck and baology was taught by Mrs Roof Other subjects Were taught by Rev uanbeek Mass Jackson Mr Elness and Mass Lobben Mr Storstad coached th basketball team We also experaeneed the ground breakang ceremony for the new boys dorm and gymnasauna on graduataon day M ay 'S 1946 Our Sophomore year was delayed bee ause of the polao eplelelaale W finally beafan late an tlae month of September We were happy to welcome twenty three new classmates We also h ad two new fe aehers Mr and Mrs Sveom Representataves on th s ye ar s basketball te am wera Robert Smath anel Ron al l B we wath Clanton Erackson as traaner We had about hae members of our cl ass on the B squad We were also proud to have representataves an organazataons such as choar band and the Graev program a colorful recat al of advanced students an paano Our new gym was adx ancang too and we were lookang forward to usanv It soon Our unaor year admatted tharteen students We had more teachers too Mass Moen Mass Loekrem Groae The boys were asked to come late because the new bualelanv wasn t ready Untal thas tame they had been hung an what we now call North Hall The gymnasaum part of the bualdang was not eompleted untal later an the year It was then we started haxmg chapel there Thas was the year of our Hrst football team Thas team added much to our homecommg ex ents as at replaced the oraganal alumna xersus xzarsaty basketball game whach had been tradataonal We also had the Hrst homecomang queen Sharley Saar Her attendants were Marlys Rangdahl and Eunace Nordby Two organazataons were new thas year the band and the choral club Probably one of our IDOSt eaccatang ex ents of the ye ar was the unaor Senaor banquet How we worked and slaved so that the senaors maght spend one enjoyable exenanvl Our represent ataxes on the basketball team thas year were Don Smestad Bob Smath and Arnae Meyers Our Senaor year undoubtedly wall be the year that wall langer the longest an our naemoraes As before we were proud to admat new members an our class Two new teachers were Mass Val and Mrs Harras Thas year the representataves for homecomang were from our own class Between semesters the junaors worked hard to gave us an enjoyable banquet Thank you unaors' Our sen1or ye ar brought many new responsabalataes and pravaledges We assumed the leadershap of the student body We pataently looked forward to the long awaated skap day whach comes to every sen1or class We also presented the Senaor class play Certaanly we are proud of our 48 49 basketball team whach ancluded hae of our el assm ates Don Smestad Clanton Erackson Ronald Berge Bob Smath and Arnae Meyers They surpassed all other Grover teams by becommg runners up an the state tournament at Manot We are sad beeause We must leave We wash for all of you future Oak Grox er alumna that your years at Oak Groxe wall proxade as many happy and blessed memoraes as ours busty va va: , , . ,e , , . , . ., . ,K s , e .
